Citi Benefits Handbook
Changing Your Contribution Amounts
You may change your contributions for the HCSA, LPSA and DCSA only during Annual Enrollment, generally as a result of a qualified change in status and in connection with COVID-19 guidance noted below.
On December 27, 2020, the Consolidated Appropriation Act 2021 was signed into law, providing additional COVID-19 relief measures and extensions for certain spending accounts. Due to the impact of COVID-19, you have a one-time opportunity to adjust your current Health Care Spending Account (HCSA)/Limited Purpose Spending Account (LPSA) or Dependent Care Spending Account (DCSA) elections.
You may be allowed to prospectively enroll, cancel, increase your election amount, or decrease your election amount for your HCSA, LPSA and/or DCSA. Note: you may not decrease your goal amount below your contribution amount on the election change date.
You will have an opportunity to enroll or make prospective changes to your 2021 coverage until October 31, 2021.
If you have questions, call the Citi Benefits Center through ConnectOne at 1 (800) 881-3938. See the For More Information section for detailed instructions, including TDD and international assistance.
Generally, if you elect to change your goal amount as a result of a qualified change in status, there are some things you need to know:
- If you increase your spending account goal amount, you cannot use the additional money to reimburse yourself for your health care expenses incurred prior to the date of this qualified change in status. The additional funds will only be available to reimburse those claims with dates of service incurred after the effective date of your qualified change in status.
- If you decrease your spending account goal amount, it will not result in a refund of deductions withheld by payroll prior to the effective date of the qualified change in status.
- You are not permitted to decrease your goal amount if you have used all of the available funds in your spending account.
- All changes must be made within 31 days of the qualified change in status.
